55th Reunion, June 9-12, 2016

Some 160 of our classmates and guests gathered in Ithaca on June 9-12, 2016 for a memorable 55th Cornell Reunion. Much has been written by our Class Correspondents *, but a few of the highlights of Reunion are worth noting here:

The weather was an Ithaca mixture of all that was possible for early June: cool, warm, windy, calm, rainy but mostly sunny, and unpredictable. The Saturday class picnic and beer tents were moved indoors to avoid a severe storm that never came.

We learned from Ken Blanchard how to refire mentally, physically, and spiritually and Bobbie Horowitz reminded us how great it was to never be a freshman again!

The food was great (Thanks Jay). The University and our class provided a wide range of educational opportunities, but one of the highlights was three-time President Hunter Rawlings' State of the University address. President Rawlings briefed us on some of the ground-breaking research being done by Cornell faculty and also explained why the American "system" of higher education was the best in the world precisely because there is no system.

Our 55th Reunion fund-raising campaign for Cornell resulted in a record $26.4 million versus our goal of $27 million and we had 67 tower club donors versus our goal of 61. We had 436 total donors. Thank you to our campaign chairs, Bill Eaton and Marshall Frank, and to the members of our reunion campaign committee and, most of all, thanks to all classmates who contributed. Honor Roll of all 55th Reunion Donors.

Finally, thanks for a great event to our Reunion Co-Chairs: Pauline Degenfelder, Doug Uhler, and Jay Treadwell, as well as to all the other classmates who worked on our Reunion team.
