Career/occupation: I spent 14 years in Mexico, working for a multinational auto parts company and then returned to the United States to begin a career of acquiring, building and operating a diverse group of manufacturing businesses.

Honors & awards: Oklahoma Hall of Fame; The University of Tulsa Business Hall of Fame.

Important affiliations: Cornell University Trustee 1991-present; Cornell University Chairman of the Board 2002-present; The University of Tulsa Trustee 1991-present; Tulsa City-County Library Commission 1990-1999; Purolator Inc. Director 1988-1989; The Williams Companies Director 1993-2001; Tulsa Area United Way – de Tocqueville Chair 1988-1989;             Executive Board Tulsa Council of Boy Scouts  1993-present.

Marital status: Married.

Spouse: Nancy (Schlegel) Meinig ’62.

Children: Anne Meinig Smalling ’87; Kathy Meinig Geib Cornell MBA ’92 and Sally Meinig Snipes.

Grandchildren: Eight grandkids (four boys & four girls), ages 5-14.

Outstanding Cornell memory: I treasure the wonderful friendships I made at Cornell that continue today.

How has your life differed from what you expected? I never expected that I would spend 14 years living and working in Mexico. I never expected to be as involved at Cornell as has been the case.

Personal reflections: Nancy and I consider ourselves to be very fortunate.  We have experienced, along with our children, life outside of the USA. We enjoy our ability to travel to be with our children’s families in Austin, Houston and San Francisco.  Our focus today is family, friends, Cornell, and looking for opportunities to apply our talents in ways that help others.
