McClumpha, David Tue, March 23rd, 2010
SELKIRK – David McClumpha, 69, of Selkirk died suddenly on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at St. Peter’s Hospital.
David was born in Fitchburg, MA on August 14, 1940, the son of the late Francis and Irma (Bovellan) McClumpha and was predeceased by his sister Diane Wellstood. David grew up in Delmar, NY, and graduated from Bethlehem Central High School in 1957. He attended Cornell University and graduated with a Bachelors degree in History in 1961 and received his Masters degree in Business Administration in 1963 from Boston University.
David had a distinguished career of over 30 years of public service, beginning in 1965 with the NY State Education Department and continuing with the NY State Division of the Budget where he had primary budgetary responsibility for state aid to public schools.
David served his country as a member of the 205th General Support Group of the NY Army National Guard. David also had a myriad of interests and hobbies – especially sports car racing. He was a member and past regional executive of the Mohawk Hudson Region Sports Car Club of America. David became a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in 1977 where he served as a trustee until his death.
David is survived by his wife, Marie (Schmigel) McClumpha; a son, Ian S. McClumpha of Selkirk; and a daughter, Nancy A. (McClumpha) Idland and her husband, Michael E. Idland of East Aurora, NY.
Calling hours were held at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar. A funeral service was held at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 262 State St., Albany. Private burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Hoosick Falls.
